This is a company specializing in providing electricity to remote villages away from the grid. It is operating an own network of franchised small entrepreneurs throughout the country who can install and service the equipment. A rental service for energy systems has also been established.

LAOPP

The Lao Association of Organic Products Promotion
This is a non-profit organization. With regard to LIRE it is mainly interested in the biofuel sector. It is dedicated to
a) promote biofuel production in rural areas of Lao PDR through its network.
b) Provide services and technical expertise in the field of bio fuel production and the use of biofuel in rural areas.

RESDA Lao

The Renewable Energy Services Development Association
This is a non-profit organization of various companies and agencies working in the energy sector. Its objectives are to organize research and training for energy service companies and contribute to the formulation of suitable policies.

XAO BAN Group

This is a company dedicated to income generation in villages through production and marketing of high quality organic agricultural and forestry products. Its interest in energy issues is due to the need of energy for irrigation and for processing of marketable products.

National University of Lao

Various departments of NUOL have a stake in contributing to the efforts of LIRE, particularly also with regard to training the required human power to manage the emerging renewable energy industry.

Sciences and Technology Research Institute (STRI)

This is a government research institute that is mainly concentrating on R&D for technology to provide electricity in rural areas away from the main grid, and to provide suitable inputs into the policy formulations of the government.

Geo-Systems International Ltd:

An international research firm that focuses particularly on environmental, socio-economic and geo-spatial analysis in the Lower Mekong Sub-Region. It carries out research and development, impact assessment studies and the formulation of natural resource management strategies in the context of integrated and sustainable rural development.
