Partnership opportunities

The institute can form partnerships with any national or international organisations that share the common goal of supporting sustainable development through renewable energy technology. The institute is keen to cooperate with partners to enable people to make use of safer, cleaner, and more reliable alternatives to current sources of energy consuming appliances.

As a centre of technical expertise, LIRE is able to provide research support to projects anywhere in the world. The institute can provide supervision, training and access to resources. Additionally, LIRE offers consultancy to organisations wishing to assess the viability of future initiatives in the Lao PDR. The institute is uniquely qualified to offer such services, being an experienced local organisation with a well-established network through its existing operations. The institute welcomes specific enquiries, and will issue tailored proposals of services upon request.

Intern and volunteer opportunities

The Lao Institute for Renewable Energy (LIRE) is a non-profit organization which was established in 2006. LIRE and its staff are dedicated to promoting a self-sufficient and viable renewable energy sector as well as improving the integrated sustainable management of the environment and natural resources in the Lao PDR. Our unique organization offers engineering, economic, social and agronomical research services (from desk study to implementation). Moreover, we seek to gather and make available reliable information about sustainable uses of renewable energy technologies to best address climate change issues in the Lao PDR.
The organization is continually growing and keeps exploring new project ideas and possible implementation areas. Volunteers are welcome all year round to support our activities. Please see below our expected volunteer needs for 2012.
